Acer trumped
Article Abstract:
Taiwan's Acer Corp. chairman Stan Shih offered to resign his chairmanship because of Acer Corp.'s 1991 losses, a promise he had made in 1990 to reverse Acer Corp.'s dwindling fortunes. His resignation was not accepted by the company's managers who still believed in Shih's leadership. Observers, however, expressed skepticism about the company's ability for a turnaround because of the prevailing situation in the personal computer market.
