Sanofi launches its obesity drug in U.K. market

The new anti-obesity drug Accomplia by Sanofi-Aventis S.A. of France has been launched in the United Kingdom. The drug was approved by the European Union and will be launched in other European countries and possibly the United States by the end of the year. One month's supply costs 55.20 Pounds ($100.60).

Drug makers win big patent victory

Merck KGaA of Germany, in a precedent setting patent case against Integra Life Sciences Corp. of the United States has won. The pharmaceutical industry is permitted free rein in early-stage research and found not liable for patent infringement litigation according to the United States Supreme Court.
