Impact of learning and fatigue factors on single machine scheduling with penalities for tardy jobs
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that the pair-wise interchange of jobs lessens the maximum tardiness when the machine operates at an inconstant rate was proven correct using a single machine scheduling problem. The problem considers the effects of fatigue of a machine while it completes tasks with due dates and corresponding penalties for delays. The Moore-Hodgson's algorithm is shown to produce the required number of tardy jobs. Results also show a solution for the 0-1 knapsack problem through the use of a special network and the two techniques.

Scheduling jobs with different, job-dependent earliness and tardiness penalties using the SLK method
Article Abstract:
A number of cases wherein the single machine job scheduling problem of assigning due dates to jobs is encountered are examined and four branch and bound algorithms providing optimal sequences for these cases are presented. Different penalties for the early and tardy jobs are assumed in examining the job scheduling problem, where due dates are assigned using the SLK due date determination approach.
