Schering-Plough posts leap in net: Merck profit sinks
Article Abstract:
Pharmaceutical companies Merck & Company Inc. and Schering-Plough Corp. have posted very different earnings. Merck's profit fell 34%, while Schering-Plough's profits rose. Competition from generic drugs, plus expenses related to Vioxx litigation, are partly to blame for Merck's poor showing.
