Article Abstract:
The government of Rwanda is turning to the traditional justice system 'gacaca' to speed up the process of trying people accused of genocide. Some 260,000 citizens will be appointed judges in local courts and given training. It is hoped this system will help encourage reconciliation.

Efforts are being made to achieve justice over war crimes in Rwanda, though many of those who promoted and planned genocide have yet to come to trial. There are problems both in locating the guilty parties, and in accumulating evidence.
