Securitization will hasten Asia's recovery
Article Abstract:
The use of healthy company assets as collateral to back high-end shares is becoming an option for many developing countries affected by the Asian financial crisis. Securitization, as the process is known, has produced an excellent record of on-time payments. Securitization can be used to reduce balance sheets thereby relieving some of the pressure on capital-raising. However, regional economic conditions must improve first before a large volume of securitization can take place.
