Go East, go West: As Washington says it won't oppose a gas pipeline across Iran and China invests in Kazakhstan's oil industry, the door to Central Asia's energy resources is opening
Article Abstract:
Washington will not oppose a planned gas pipeline carrying gas from Turkmenistan across Iran to Turkey, in spite of US sanctions on Teheran. Also China's national oil monopoly has recently purchased a majority share in Kazakhstan oil production facilities, which could open a pipeline outlet to the east. There will be increased energy demand from China, Japan and the South Asian countries over the next 10 years and the US recognizes, that with limited access to Middle East resources, it also needs to secure future energy supplies.

Pakistan's 'Bosnian village.' (Bosnian refugees)
Article Abstract:
Bosnian refugees have found sanctuary in a complex near Islamabad, Pakistan. The Pakistani government and its citizens have welcomed the European Muslims, despite obvious cultural differences. The refugees, most of whom are women, have taken to more traditional Pakistani dress and religious customs. The men, almost all of whom are ex-prisoners of war, are planning to build a Bosnian mountain village when they are relocated to the foothills. The number of refugees in Pakistan is expected to reach 10,000.
