Serge Rancourt to take Publicis Canada reins

Publicis Canada has chosen Serge Rancourt as its new president and has given him a mandate to diversify and expand the agency. Rancourt, director of Young and Rubicam and Wunderman Cato Johnson's offices in Germany, said he would divide his time between Publicis' offices in Montreal and Toronto. He succeeds Yves Gougoux, who was named chairman of Publicis Canada and president of Publicis Conseil. Publicis Canada also recruited Andrew and Duncan Bruce, as COO and executive director, respectively.

Neary BBDO Toronto president

Jack Neary has been appointed as president and chief creative officer of BBDO Toronto, and will be responsbile for identifying growth opportunities for the Toronto office and supervision of its creative management team. Also promoted were Fiona McBride as Exec VP, head of account management, and Neale Halliday, Exec VP, head of planning. The promotions come at a time when BBDO Toronto lost the C$17-million Scotiabank account and DaimlerChrysler to BBDO Worldwide.

Major changes at H&M/FCB
Article Abstract:
Harrod and Mirlin/FCB (H and M) has announced that Peter Shier is replacing Ian Mirlin as president of the agency. Shier was formerly connected with design shop Russell Inc and has had extensive experience in agency work and marketing. Mirlin will assume the chair position at H and M/FCB and will also serve as head of Harrod and Mirlin/FCB South. The changes are part of the merger of the agency with the Toronto, Ontario office of Bozell Worldwide.
