Shartar replaces Eames at Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola Ltd has announced the retirement of president and CEO Tony Eames, effective Jan 4, 2001. Eames has been with the company for 35 years, the last 13 years spent as president and CEO. He decided to step down because he wants to spend more time with his family and be more involved with the training of his daughter, who is a competitive equestrian jumper. Eames will be replaced by Ed Shartar, currently vice- president regional manager of Canada for Coca-Cola North America

Coke summer promo in the cards

Coca-Cola Ltd will launch an extensive loyalty-card promotion across Canada in the summer of 1999 to promote its Classic brand. The company will distribute five million plastic, wallet-sized `Coke Cards' in places where teenagers tend to congregate, such as malls, movie theaters and concerts, starting may 3, 1999. Holders of the Coke cards are entitled to range of deals, from meals at Burger King to clothing purchases at Stitches.

Coke plays everyday hockey

Toronto, Ontario-based Coca-Cola Ltd has launched a marketing campaign that capitalizes the Canadian's love for ice hockey. The campaign includes a TV commercial that features children playing hockey on a frozen pond. The spot was created by Cossette Communication-Marketing. Another is a limted-edition hockey-themed packaging designed by Toronto, Ontario-based Impact/FCB.
