Shoppers' strike
Article Abstract:
British retailers, especially furniture retailers, need to offer discounts to attract shoppers due to a decrease in consumer spending. Take-home pay is rising in real terms, and interest rates are low, so consumers have money to spare. Consumer spending could recover when consumers realise their bank balances are healthy, but they could wait for retail prices to decrease.
