Article Abstract:
Kablo (Kladno, Czech Republic), cable manufacturer, processes about 12,000 t of copper per year. The company purchases raw materials through its parent firm. The firm purchases copper in Sweden and aluminium in Russia. Kablo was privatised and became a part of the multinational concern Felten & Guilleaume Energietechnik (F&G) (Cologne, Germany) in 1994. The firm invested over 600 mil Kc in production technology in 1994-1998. F&G started co-operation with NKT Cables A/S (Denmark) in 1996. The cable sections of F&G and NKT Cables merged in January 1999. Kablo is focused on the Central and East European markets in the new configuration. The firm exports mainly to Bulgaria, Lithuania, Russia and Georgia. Kablo will probably focus on the production of low voltage power cables after connection with the Danish firm. The firm has 625 employees.

Powder paint Komaxit - a quality Czech product in worldwide competition
Article Abstract:
Balakom (Opava-Komarov, Czech Republic), wood and metal paint producer, saw a turnover of over 615 mil Kc in 1998. The firm's production programme includes powder paints under the name Komaxit. The line of powder plastic paints is divided into epoxide paints intended for interiors, epoxi-polyester paints intended for inner use and polyester paints for exterior use. The paints Komaxit are produced in several types and shades. Their sales in the Czech Republic are ensured by OK Color (Prague, Czech Republic), which can utilise Komaxit warehouses in Prague and Brno, the Czech Republic. In Slovakia, the sales of Komaxit paints are ensured by the subsidiary Balakom Slovakia (Zilina, Slovakia).
