Silent boom
Article Abstract:
Markets in Asia have benefited little from the boom of high-technology stocks seen in the US. While some Asian companies have seen their stock soar, they are the exception, as tech stocks in the region are rarely large, liquid, and available to investors outside the country. Hong Kong's ASM Pacific, Venture Manufacturing (Singapore), Taiwan's Acer, and South Korea's Samsung Electronics are among the few Asian stars this year, but Acer, for example, is already at the 12% limit of foreign ownership.

Hong Kong, fun city
Article Abstract:
Malaysian investors had a poor reputation in Hong Kong after being held responsible for numerous fraudulent investment activities in the 1980s. Some Malays deceived business organisations by pretending to be wealthy. Modern day Hong Kong businesses have begun to welcome ethnic-Chinese and Malay investors because they find them to be reliable sources of income.
