Sintex plans to invest over CEK 9.5 mil in 2001

Sintex (Ceska Trebova, Czech Republic), textile firm, plans to invest over CEK 9.5 mil in 2001. Sintex started the full operation of a new production hall worth more than CEK 29 mil at the end of 2000. About CEK 17 mil of the sum were represented by costs on the hall's construction part and the rest by costs on the purchase of three knitting machines and a monitoring line for the control of the quality of knitted fabrics. The firm counts on a capacity of 80-100 t of knitted fabrics per month after the commissioning of the new hall compared to the hitherto 60 t per month.

Ceske drahy (CD) (Prague, Czech Republic), Czech Railways, expects a loss of 5.3 bil Kc under a state operating subsidy of 6.6 bil Kc in 2000. In 1999 the firm saw a loss of about 3.889 bil Kc. A reason for the growth of the 2000 loss is an increase in write-offs, power expenditures and interest. They will increase by 2.1 bil Kc in 2000 compared to 1999. According to CD's business project for 2000, the firm plans to dismiss 3,700 employees. CD saw proceeds of 37.158 bil Kc in 1999, roughly 190 mil Kc more compared to 1998.

Vodni stavby (VS) (Prague, Czech Republic), construction firm, expects a positive economic result in 1999 compared to a loss of 826 mil Kc in 1998. The firm's turnover should be 4.3 bil Kc in 1999. Reasons for the 1998 loss were the recession of the Czech economy and costs resulted from the firm's debts. VS has been awarded a contract on the construction of a railway corridor in the section between Decin and the state border for Ceske drahy (Czech Republic), Czech Railways.
