The IMF is undertaking several measures to accommodate the needs of the ex-Soviet republics. The republics expect 410.5 billion in aid, including a fund to stabilize the Russian rouble. A department for Eastern Europe has been created for the IMF, and 200 new employees have been hired.

Countries offering aid to Russia should coordinate their efforts and clarify the needs of Russia, so that efforts are not wasted. Relief efforts include the areas of emergency aid, destruction of nuclear weapons, humanitarian aid and economic aid.
