Smarter soft kill
Article Abstract:
Offboard decoy systems are becoming important fixtures on major surface combatants and increasingly fitted to high value minor war vessels. Cued by electronic support measures system, or responding to a threat message from the ship's combat system, their essential features are quick response, minimal ship impact and low cost. Some of these systems include Hycor's 130mm caliber Mk 36 Super Rapid Blooming Offboard Chaff, TERMA Elektronik's Soft Kill Weapon System and BAE Systems' Mk 251 Active Decoy Round.
