So alike, so different
Article Abstract:
Politicians Bill Bradley and Al Gore have a number of similarities such as wooden and self-confident styles, integrity, and a policy that includes more government intervention. Gore focuses on a number of small reforms, while Bradley argues for universal health care, stricter gun controls, and changes to campaign finance regulations. It is not clear who will be nominated by the Democratic Party. Gore has a large number of supporters, but there are some doubts due to the popularity of Bradley.

Gore's to a man - almost
Article Abstract:
The AFL-CIO, or labor union congress of the US, has endorsed Al Gore as candidate for the Democratic party for the presidency. The Teamsters did not agree with this endorsement, and there is concernabout support for China being included in the World Trade Organization, and Gore's backing of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Labor unions are starting to undergo a recovery in the US, though the proportion of the work force in a labor union has dropped.

Al Gore advances
Article Abstract:
Al Gore is relentless and disciplined, and aims to become US president. He has sought to develop links with entrepreneurs who are concerned about his support for measures to protect the environment. This is seen as one possible weakness in his position, so he has stressed the importance of economic growth rather than environmental measures. His position has been strengthened by the Nov 1998 elections, and he is firmly directed toward goals that he pursues.
