Solo route to disaster: one-man practices hit for six
Article Abstract:
A survey from the Royal Institute of British Architects shows one-man architectural practices are the worst affected by the recession. Sole principals formed 18% of all practices in 1992 compared with 14% in 1991. Average architects earnings have fallen 2% but 16% for one-person practices. The proportion of salaried private architects has dropped from 30% to 23%. There is an increase in the numbers not fully employed from 31% in 1991 to 38% in 1992. Women continue to earn less than men.

No hits, all the time: WFMU stays away from the latest trends
Article Abstract:
WFMU-FM is an alternative radio station that operates out of Jersey City, NJ and depends upon a 1.250-watt signal from a West Orange, NJ transmitter. Its devoted listeners have to struggle to capture their FM link over the air waves to hear music by non-mainstream rock groups as well as specialty programming of music from around the world. The station's disc jockeys defy mainstream tastes and find almost anything that no one else has promoted or even heard.

Nepotism
Article Abstract:
The proper nepotism policy is suited to the size and ownership pattern of the firm. Such a policy will allow for its use in small firms and limit its use in big firms. Nepotism is ideal for small family-operated firms since it will provide an effective way to spot dedicated employees to staff the firm.
