Sony picks internationalist as president, setting tone for shift to new leadership
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp. has selected Nobuyuki Idei to replace Norio Ohga as president. Ohga will become Sony's chairman and CEO and is expected to guide Idei into his new post. Analysts noted that Idei's selection marks the first stage in the transfer of power within Sony, from the founding generation to a new group of professionally-trained managers. Moreover, they predict that it will take some time before Idei actually directs Sony's future and, in the meantime, the old generation of managers will continue to hold the reins of power within the company.
