Southern-Bohemian ponds under one flag
Article Abstract:
Rybarstvi Trebon (RT) (Trebon, Czech Republic) and Rybnikarstvi Hluboka (RH) (Hluboka nad Vltavou, Czech Republic), fishing firms, have begun co-operating. The firms will collaborate primarily in the field of mechanisation, fry production, clearing the ponds from mud and the mutual complementation of market-fish range. The two companies together fish nearly 4,000 t of fish per year, 70% of which are exported. Both are damping unprofitable fish processing owing to a decline in prices on the Western markets and the strong tradition of live-fish consumption on the domestic market. RT, which has 240 employees, generated a net profit of 5.4 mil Kc on proceeds of about 211 mil Kc in 1998. RH, which has 120 employees, saw a net profit of 300,000 Kc on proceeds of 164 mil Kc in 1998. RT owns nearly 63% of shares in RH. >TB Rybnikarstvi Trebon (TR) (Trebon, Czech Republic) and Rybnikarstvi Hluboka (Hluboka nad Vltavou, Czech Republic), fishing firms, fresh-water fish producer compared to total production in Czech Republic, tonnes Year 1995 1996 1997 1998 -------------------------------------------------------------- RyRybnikarstvi Hluboka 1360 1326 1229 1166 Rybarstvi Trebon 2574 2712 2765 2844 Czech Republic, total 18600 18200 17500 17200 Local fish consumption, kg/head 1.46 1.39 1.20 0.85 >TE
