Vietnam is a multilingual country, with language teachers always in demand. Vietnamese have learned Russian and Eastern European tongues of their Cold-War allies, and English and Japanese of their potential trading partners. The French government subsidizes French classes.

The hunt for Big Bear: Vietnam
Article Abstract:
The Dao Hung oil field in Vietnam is one of the largest undeveloped fields in the world. Oil companies from Japan and other countries are competing for its development. The Bach Ho oil field is currently the only developed field in Vietnam.

Ethnic minorities in Vietnam have living standards far below that of ethnic Vietnamese, but conditions for them are improving. As the country moves more toward free market policies it is trying to guarantee political equity for minorities.
