Travelers who are fond of eating spicy Chinese cuisine may find Chengdu, China a worthwhile place to visit. This land-locked province, which has become an industrial hub over the years, boasts of a variety of spicy dishes that are sure to please local and international visitors alike. Chengdu is most noted for its hot chili sauce, Sichuan peppercorns, stewed tofu and minced pork in hot sauce. Those who have no appetite for spicy food may also try other native dishes including smoked-tea duck and eggplant in fish flavor.

Australian winemakers pour on advertising efforts in Asia

Australian winemakers have continued to promote their products in the Asian region despite the ongoing economic crisis. Unlike other Australian export products, wine actually produced market gains since the start of the Asian financial crisis in mid-1997. The sale of Australian wine is highest in Japan where red wine is in high demand due to its reported health benefits. A new generation of Chinese consumers are also gravitating towards wine as the beverage becomes more affordable.
