Correcting deadly myths of deflation and inflation
Article Abstract:
Inflation and deflation are some of the issues most frequently misinterpreted by investors and economists. It is false to assume that the decline of equity prices in Asia is likely to induce deflation, since currency devaluation is always followed by price increases. Similarly, the notion that the Asian economic crisis would lead to global deflation is unacceptable, because devaluation induces prices to escalate.
