Spiral bending and double-curved surfaces
Article Abstract:
Computer-aided design should be used more to develop spiral bending, tapered tubes, laser-cut shapes and double-curved surface designs for steel. Steel is an extremely popular material which is already used in a variety of structures, including buildings like the long-standing Ritz Hotel in London, England. It is particularly suitable for structures with glass roofs, such as the latest addition to Liverpool station which uses domehead steel bolts that impersonate the material of the older Victorian structure.
