Spirits are on the move
Article Abstract:
Shippers are constantly challenged on how to tranport wine and spirits in a cost-effective manner. The relative high value of the shipment makes it imperative to handle the goods extra carefully, but expensive equipment such as temperature-controlled containers are not always available or affordable. One creative solution is to reroute the shipments in line with the season. US wine producers exported $425 million worth of their product in 1997, up from $182 million in 1993.
