New profit-and-loss accounts rules by Britain's Accounting Standards Board will provide strict definitions for profits, revenues and costs, and prevent the juggling of figures to brighten up financial reports. Some regulators and managers believe the new rules are confusing.

Too much of a bad thing
Article Abstract:
The UK has a million long-term jobless people. This is demoralizing and costs taxpayers a great deal in unemployment benefits. The 'Restart' program for the chronically unemployed is ill funded and does not provide sufficient job training and placement assistance.
