The UK supersport bike market was valued at 190 million pound sterling in 1997, with 24,000 bike sold. The average cost of a supersport bike is about 8000 pounds sterling, and the averaged age of an owner is between 25-45 years old. The number of registrations increased from 10,250 in 1993 to 23,916 in 1997, representing a rise of 133%. Honda accounted for 25% of bike sales in 1997, and Suzuki accounted for 21%. There are expected to be 38,000 registrations by the year 2001.
