Svetlana Gouzenko, who has died at the age of 77, overcame the restrictions of life as a Soviet defector and the possibility of assassination to become a Canadian housewife and mother. She and her husband Igor, a Soviet spy, turned their backs on good careers in Russia to help protect the West.
