Swiss demonstrate 30mm airburst munition
Article Abstract:
Oerlikon-Contraves AG conducted a technical firing demonstration of its new PMC308 30mm x 173 airburst munition (AMB) in Dec 1, 1999 that was witnessed by 72 representatives from 13 countries. The new AMB incorporates a fragmenting projectile that is activated by a programmable electronic time fuze that was developed for the company's 35mm AHEAD round. The demonstration showed that the PMC308 can pass through a 15mm aluminum alloy plate at 500m. It can also penetrate a 10mm rolled homogenous armor plate at a similar distance when the fuze is disabled.

Swiss Army trials Dragon Robot tracking mount on Piranha
Article Abstract:
The Swiss Army has started testing the Dragon Robot automated tracking mount aboard one of its Piranha 6x6 tank destroyers. The mount will automate the operation of dismounted 1,000m-range Dragon antitank missile launchers. South African company IST, which developed the auto tracker, said the device also improves the minimum-range and helicopter-engagement capabilities of missiles such as HOT, Milan and TOW. Firing trials would also be conducted with an autotracking twin launcher armed with Somchem FT5 antitank rockets.
