South Africa widens 105mm artillery
Article Abstract:
The South African National Defense Force is studying a portee version of LIW's G7 long-range 105mm howitzer prototype. In this set-up, the howitzer would be mounted on a Tatra 6x6 truck and supported with stabilizing outriggers and equipped with 100 rounds of ammunition. The G7 features a semi-automatic swing and slide-type breech fitted with an M82 primer feed magazine. It has a maximum rate of fire of more than six rounds per minute and a burst-rate capability of three rounds per 11 seconds.
