HERO HONDA POSTS 83% JUMP IN Q3 NET

Hero Honda has increased its net profit by 83 percent to Rs33.76 crore in the third quarter ended December 1998 against Rs18.61 crore in the third quarter ended December 1997. Its net sales increased by 36 percent to Rs404.68 crore from Rs299.05 crore. The company's net profit for the first nine months of 1998-99 increased by 60 percent to Rs86.47 crore on sales of 385,292 motorcycles against Rs54.76 crore on sales of 293,809 motorcycles in the first nine months of 1997-98. TVS SUZUKI ON ROADS TO GLORY

TVS Suzuki has posted a 24 percent rise in its volume during September 1998. During the month, it sold 61,400 vehicles. Of the total sales, 9,400 were scooties, 22,600 motorcycles and 29,400 mopeds. TVS Suzuki posted a 20 percent rise in its volumes during April-September 1998. During this period, it sold 45,497 scooties, 123,652 motorcycles and 165,066 mopeds. (ag)
