Taiwan's PC manufacturers flock to low-cost China
Article Abstract:
Stock traders are ebullient over the move of many of Taiwan's PC manufacturers industry to China. The move is interpreted by traders as a sign that these computer manufacturers expect to significantly raise their profit potential by decreasing the hurdle of high wages and high land costs. Trades point to the stellar performances of stocks by high-technology manufacturers, such as Delta Electronics and Compeq Manufacturing, whose gains in price/earnings belie their cheap prices. Stock analysts predict that these companies can anticipate a growth of 20% in their stock prices.

Taiwan's rising independence stokes nationalistic sentiment among Chinese
Article Abstract:
Many Chinese strongly believe that Taiwan should remain a province of China. However, most will only support military action against the island if the Taiwanese government declares independence. They believe that the human and financial costs of waging a war to recover Taiwan will be too high. Most would prefer continued and improved diplomatic relations between the two nations.
