Gaidar is planning several reform measures that will eventually bring economic stability to Russia. Compromise between Congress and parliament over economic policy has to be reached. Gaidar concedes that reform measures such as price liberalization will make economic conditions worse before improving them.

Gloom, not doom
Article Abstract:
Russia's economy is in a shambles, and there are calls for Boris Yeltsin and his government to resign. There is little danger of a coup however, and the anti-reform lobby is not as strong as before. Countries that have slowed reform are doing worse than Russia.

The economic woes of Russia result from reforms that have been implemented too slowly, contrary to the believe of the Russian government. A number of restrictions, such as controlled energy prices, still inhibit the liberalization of Russia's economy.
