Taxicology
Article Abstract:
Learning can have an effect on the human brain, as is shown by a study of taxi drivers in London, England, by Eleanor Maguire from University College in London. They have to learn routes for an exam in order to be able to take up their trade. This has been shown to be linked to changes in the hippocampi of taxi drivers in comparison to a control group. There are changes over time, which indicates that the changes are associated with learning rather than that men with a particular type of hippocampus seek to become taxi drivers.

Article Abstract:
Researchers at Elan Pharmaceuticals have investigated Alzheimer's disease in mice, and have found that antibodies can both prevent the disease in younger mice, and decrease plaque levels in older mice. The researchers, led by Dale Schenk, have published their results in 'Nature'. It is unclear whether this research will benefit humans, since the type of Alzheimer's disease that mice suffer from is different from the type of the disease that affects humans.
