Canada has strict rules regarding taxable employee incentives so employers are encouraged to give employees non-cash gifts to avoid burdening the employee with taxes. Canadian tax policy allows employees to receive two awards valued at less than $500 and another two gifts under $500 totaling $1000 worth of goods.
