Telecom Italia will reabsorb TIM

Italian fixed-line phone carrier Telecom Italia S.p.A. is expected to close a deal with TIM S.p.A. in which it would acquire the 44% of the wireless communications provider that it does not already own. The takeover is being seen as a way for Telecom Italia to find the cash it needs to service its nearly 30 billion euros of debt.
