Temporal distribution of public transport demand during the peak period
Article Abstract:
The temporal distribution of peak-time demand for a scheduled public transport system was characterized via a deterministic user equilibrium model. The model, which may be extended to systems with multiple origins and destinations, facilitates the investigation of how flexible work times and public transport schedule affect demand distribution. It may also be used in the traffic engineering of elevators, mine shafts and other modes of transportation.

Time depending shortest-path problems with applications to railway networks
Article Abstract:
Time depending shortest-path problems are investigated within the framework of a railway network. The problem requires the calculation of the shortest path between origin and destination for 'every possible starting time' for estimating travel time. To this end, an alternative to the Dijkstra algorithm, a one-to-one label correcting technique, is introduced to compute the transit function using only a single path procedure.
