Terminal Two opens in Dubai

Dubai International Airport has begun operating its Terminal 2 facility, which is part of a $540 million expansion project for the airport. The terminal, which will be employed initially by 24 airlines, has the capacity for annual load of 2.5 million passengers with its five boarding gates. The operation of the one-level facility is expected to ease traffic in Terminal 1, thus reducing congestion and easing transit. The terminal offers 22 check-in counters that will handle a total of 500 departures per hour.

Caracas to double capacity

Caracas International Airport at Maiquetia, Venezuela, is being expanded and modernized under the $100 million, four-year 'Maiquetia 2000' project. The project includes rebuilding the passenger terminal on three levels and building a new 1000 sq m cargo complex, a five-star hotel and parking lot. Upon the completion of the project, the airport's annual handling capacity will increase from 2.5 to 2.6 million passengers.

Prince open Bilbao terminal
Article Abstract:
Bilbao Airport in nother Spain opened a new $87-million passenger terminal on Nov 14, 2000. The terminal, which is part of the planned expansion for the airport, is a distinctive arrow-shaped 39,000 sq m, three-level building with a five-story car park, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. It has the capacity to handle more than four million passengers a year, and more than 3,000 passengers at peak hours.
