Texwinca sees fast growth

Casual wear manufacturer Texwinca Holdings Ltd. has attracted investor attention due to its fast growth. Texwinca owns the Baleno brand of casual wear and has established 70 outlets in China alone. The company projects that its number of stores will grow to 120 stores by the end of 1997 and in 1998 the number will grow to 250. The Baleno brand currently commands 10% of the mainland China casual wear market, compared to its competitor, Giordano, which holds 35% of the market. Texwinca has established Baleno stores in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.

US market helps boost Tungtex result by 29%

Tungtex Holdings posted a net profit of HK$85.96 mn for the year ended 31 March 1998, up 29.63% from the same period of 1997. Turnover increased 19.97% to HK$1.378 bn for the year. The company attributed the rise in net profit to good performance of its core operation of apparel manufacturing and export for the year. Besides, its retail business in China continued to provide a positive contribution. *
