Thailand's airport delays
Article Abstract:
The Thai government has announced that plans to construct a second airport in Bangkok could be abandoned. Attention is now begin given to the possibility of extending the existing Don Muang airport, which would cost around $460 million. Capacity at this airport would rise to 45 million passengers a year, from the present 30 million a year, and it would eventually handle 75 aircraft an hour, from the present 50. Opposition parties believe that the change in policy may have been prompted by corruption and speculative land deals.
