The Danes say no
Article Abstract:
The three year old Treaty on European Union has been scuttled by Denmark's vote against approval. To take effect, the treaty had to be approved by all members of the European Community. The Danes were not the only Europeans dissatisfied by the treaty.

The Maastricht treaty is in danger of failing, and this holds serious implications for the single European trade market. Even if the political and economic aspects of the treaty were too ambitious, it should be held together for its trade provisions.

Finland, Sweden, Norway and Austria each want special concessions in return for joining the European Community. Swedish and Norwegian citizens oppose EC membership in great numbers, and those in Finland and Austria are fairly evenly divided.
