The IMF rescues Mugabe
Article Abstract:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has given $25 million to Zimabwe, part of a larger loan of $193 million, although many of the country's economic problems appear due to mismanagement. The IMF is concerned that Zimbabwe could undergo an economic collapse. Parliament and minister have awarded themselves a pay rise of 182%, while there is a 50% rate of unemployment and a 65% inflation rate. The Movement for Democratic Change is a new opposition party that could perform well against the ruling ZANU-PF party, and is is calling for better economic management.
