Angel of death
Article Abstract:
A large part of Earth's population could be destroyed by a comet, according to astronomer Brian Marsden, one of the world's foremost authorities at computing cometary orbits from preliminary data. Impact depends on the errors in calculating the orbit of a new celestial object and on how gasses ejecting from the comet's mass affect its path. A comet hitting Earth would be preceded by debris landing as fireballs and meteorites. Impact would create a vast tsunami that would swamp coastal areas around the world and fires that might rage for a year. Human civilization would probably end.
