The angels who want to defect
Article Abstract:
The San Fernando Valley is seeking independence from Los Angeles and argues that it pays more in taxes than it receives. There are 1.4 million inhabitants of the Valley who account for 39% of LA's population and four council members of a total of 15. East Asians account for 9% of the Valley's population, and Hispanics for 40%, and the economy is diversifying as well as society. Los Angeles County is seen by secessionists as able to bring together the metropolitan area's interests.
