A top Pakistani scientist signed a confession, admitting to have provided designs for developing nuclear weapons and the requisite technology to Iran, North Korea and Libya. The confession has shocked the countrymen and will spark global investigation of the country's involvement in nuclear proliferation, in the wake of the international negotiations for curbing nuclear programmes in some Asian countries.

Military tightens its grip
Article Abstract:
Diplomatic experts are of the opinion that Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf may go back on his promise to step-down as chief of army staff by the end of year 2004 but the government dismisses these charges as baseless. The General set up the National Security Council with full powers to the President to take policy decisions on matters concerning the armed forces.
