Low inflation and high growth has given Brazilians unprecedented purchasing power, at least temporarily, spurring a growth of 15.5% in consumer goods. The success of Brazil's 'Plan Real' has caused manufacturers and retailers to target low- and middle-income consumers for the first time.

Land for the landless: Brazil
Article Abstract:
Brazil's landless families are demanding land reform, and many have staged organized 'occupations,' invading some of the country's immense private estates and claiming a plot for their own. Opponents to reform claim a democratic distribution of land would cripple Brazil's farm output.
