Article Abstract:
Comparison of the cost of 16 consumer products indicates great differences in the cost of living between 12 Asian cities. The cities are: Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Taipei, Taiwan; Peking, China; Hongkong; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Bangkok, Thailand; Jakarta, Indonesia; Manila, the Philippines; Hanoi, Vietnam; and New Delhi, India. Tokyo continues to be the most expensive, while many products are unavailable in New Delhi. Even well-known brands vary considerably in price from place to place.
