The effects of exogenous variables in efficiency measurement - a Monte Carlo study
Article Abstract:
The Monte Carlo technique was employed to compare the stochastic frontier model with three data envelopment analysis models (DEA) in their abilities to measure efficiency in instances involving different production technology and operating environments. Results show the one-stochastic frontier model to better the other methods in accounting for exogenous variables when the variables are known. However, the DEA-TOBIT method can be considered a sufficient substitute when exogenous variables are not identified.

Undesirable outputs in efficiency valuations
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the treatment which should be given to undesirable outputs which have been included in the production model when utilizing data envelopment analysis. The measurement of radical efficiency is discussed.

Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the development of an 'inverse' measure which acts in a complimentary manner to the Fare-Lovell efficiency measure and which can be used to evaluate the efficiency of technical systems.
