The kindness that kills
Article Abstract:
A recent case in Britain involving the mercy killing of a dying patient who was in extreme unrelievable agony and wished to die illustrates the inequities of the legal system in such instances. There has to be a way that allows those implicated in such cases not to be charged with murder.

Hand of kindness: is Germany's Treuhandanstalt a good thing?

Treuhandanstalt has put into practice its mandate from the German government to smooth the transition to capitalism in Eastern Germany by carrying out an aggressive privatization campaign. As many as half of the 11,000 firms to be privatized had made the transition by Nov 91.

Some half a million refugees from neighbouring countries are now living in camps in Western Tanzania, but this is putting a huge strain on Tanzania. There are often tensions between refugees and local people.
