The land of disappointments
Article Abstract:
Japanese technology has been affected by a number of mishaps, such as problems with bullet trains, and at a uranium processing plant. Reductions in funding for industrial research are seen as one cause of problems. Cost cutting is one cause of pressures that can lead to safety regulations being flouted. Manufacturing companies such as Nissan have had to restructure. A number of organizational changes should help to improve research and technological development in Japan.
