The leisurely revolutionary
Article Abstract:
Orix chief executive, Yoshihiko Miyauchi, stresses that he aims to make a profit from his business activities, and such a bold statement is not common in Japan, where wider responsibilities tend to be stressed. He started work at Orix in 1964, after studying for an MBA in the US. He has brought in executive stock options, and promotions in line with merit instead of time served at Orix. He has not succeeded in diversifying away from leasing, though he is considering buying Long Term Credit Bank.
